ニューヨークにやって来た青年スレヴン（ジョシュ・ハートネット）は友人に間違えられ、大物ギャングのボス（モーガン・フリーマン）に拉致されてしまう。ボスは借金返済の代わりに敵対するギャング、ラビ（ベン・キングズレー）の息子殺害を命令。しぶしぶ了解したスレヴンは、その後まもなく今度はラビに誘拐される。
