Percy gaat, nadat ze uit de gevangenis is vrijgelaten, naar het kleine stadje Gillead om een plek te vinden waar ze opnieuw kan beginnen. Ze wordt opgevangen door Hannah om te helpen bij haar thuis, de Spitfire Grill. Percy brengt verandering in het kleine stadje, waardoor bij sommigen wrok en angst ontstaat, en bij anderen groei.
